Blues And The Guitar

Blues guitar is characterized by its free timing, distinctive articulations and micro-tonality. Blues guitar is one of the most intriguing and interesting genres that is out there. Blues guitar is a perfect way for the musician to get the message across and still have a beautiful sound.

Techniques

You can improve your sound by using one of two techniques: Dampening (or muting), which involves placing your unused left-hand fingers lightly on the strings behind the slide (toward the nut) Employing right-hand palm mutes, Slide guitar is physically easy in one sense - you just drag a slide over the strings and instantly hear the effect.

Fingerstyle guitar has recently exploded into a renaissance unto itself; fingerstyle techniques are now evident in all styles of music, fingerstyle artists are growing in popularity, fingerstyle festivals and concerts are widely attended, and more players than ever before are buying acoustic guitars and working on their fingerstyle chops. These techniques will prove useful in blues, bluegrass, rock and roll.

Slide

Slide an object like a glass or metal tube over a left-hand finger (usually the third or fourth). Slide guitar doesn't require left-hand strength the way normal acoustic guitar playing does, but it does require finesse. Slide blues guitar has always had been around, the earliest blues guitarists used some form of slide or another. Slide guitar has long been heard in Hawaiian, country, and delta blues. Slide guitar guitar players often use special tunings to get different and more interesting harmonic effects. Slide blues guitar, is a very emotional sound, it is possible to make a slide emulate the human voice, or inject some wild shaking and vibrato that is just not possible with regular fretted guitar. Slide guitar is very prevalent in today's country music as well. Slide guitar is one of the most evocative sounds in all music.

Blues guitar is one of the most fun and expressive styles in guitar music. Blues guitar is an under appreciated art form, in particular because there are many wannabes and few organic masters like B.B.King and Eric Clapton
